Younes Aghayan, a follower of the Yari faith (Ahl-e Haq), ethnic prisoner who is sentenced to death, was transferred from Mahabad prison to solitary confinement in Urmia prison. He is on hunger strike from the day he was transferred to solitary confinement. There is fear of his execution.
Younes Aghayan is a follower of the Yari faith (Ahl-e Haq) from the village of Ooch Tappeh, near Miandoab. In October 2004, police raided Ooch Tappeh village to remove signs with religious writings of Yari faith. When villagers resisted the raid and confronted the police, Younes Aghayan, 21, and another Yari faith follower by the name of Mehdi Ghassemzadeh (Aghayan’s uncle) were arrested. In January 2005, the two men were put on trial by Branch Two of Mahabad Revolutionary Court, and were sentenced to five years in prison on charges of “carrying ammunition and arms,” and to death on charges of “armed resistence against the Islamic Republic of Iran.” After the Supreme Court confirmed the sentences, Mehdi Ghassemzadeh was executed in 2008, and Younes Aghayan has remained on death row inside Orumiyeh Prison since then. Mehdi Ghassemzadeh was executed without the knowledge of his family and his court-*appointed lawyer, and according to the source, his body was never returned to his family for burial.
یونس آقایان از روز انتقال به انفرادی در اعتصاب غذا بسر می‌برد*
یونس آقایان علیبگلو، زندانی عقیدتی محکوم به مرگ که از روز ۶ دی ماه از زندان مهاباد به سلول انفرادی زندان ارومیه منتقل گردیده بود، در اعتصاب غذای خشک بسر می‌برد.
صبح روز چهارشنبه ۶ دی ماه یونس آقایان علیبگلو، زندانی عقیدتی و از پیروان آئین یاری (اهل حق) از زندان مهاباد به سلول انفرادی در زندان ارومیه منتقل گردید و از همان روز دست به اعتصاب غذای خشک زده است.
از آن رو که یونس آقایان با حکم اعدام روبرو می‌باشد و حکم وی به تایید دیوان عالی کشور نیز رسیده است، احتمال اجرای حکم وی نگرانی محافل حقوق بشری را برانگیخته است.
یونس آقایان علیبگلو اهل روستای اوج تپه از توابع شهرستان می‌اندوآب است که به همراه چهار هم آئین خود در سال ۸۳ توسط نیروهای امنیتی در درگیری موسوم به روستای اوج تپه در سن ۲۲ سالگی بازداشت و سپس در دادگاه به اتهام محاربه به اعدام محکوم شده بود.
سه متهم دیگر این پرونده به نامهای سهندعلی محمدی، بخشعلی محمدی و عبادالله قاسم‌زاده در دادگاه تجدید نظر به ۱۳ سال زندان در تبعید محکوم و یک تن دیگر به نام مهدی قاسم‌زاده نیز به اعدام محکوم و حکم نامبرده در بهمن ماه سال ۸۷ اجرا شد.
